SU Habitat HistoryIn the fall of 2000, Habitat for Humanity at Salisbury University began a year long task of building a home that they entirely fundraised in One year. This was possible through a generous donation by the Seagull Century group. With Kevin Seidel's dedication and extremely hard work, the chapter was pulled together to show how much the students cared about the community of Salisbury. They completed the construction of the house in 1 year and in the spring they dedicated the house to Velva Gunther and her family. While it was an amazing task that involved many people, it was not the first time this had been done at Salisbury. In 1994, when the Campus chapter at Salisbury started, they raised the money for a house that was built on campus in 1 year. The house was then delivered to Kirkwood where it was the first house in the community starting the first of a planned 36 houses on the development. |
