The Facts
Know It, Don't Blow It When
it comes to drinking and driving and underage drinking, there is no excuse
for not knowing the laws. There is even less of an excuse when SAFERIDE conveniently
displays the laws on their website. Please read the following.
Drinking and Driving:

Effective September 30, 2001 Maryland's Illegal Per
Se limit for alcohol related driving offences is lowered to .08 B.A.C.
-
A person is considered to be driving under the
influence at a blood alcohol concentration level of .08 or more.

A person is considered driving while impaired at a
level of .07.
-
Convictions of these violations can be obtained at
lower BAC levels with other competent evidence.
Underage Drinking:

Alcohol possession by people under 21 years of age
is unlawful in most circumstances. (Art. 27, Sec. 400A)

It is illegal to provide alcohol to someone under
21 for their consumption. (Art. 27, Sec. 401A)

Making a false statement or otherwise misrepresenting
age to obtain alcohol is a violation of Maryland law and can result in
a fine up to $500.00. (Art. 27, Sec. 400)

Those who have parties where alcohol is
available are responsible for insuring no one under 21 has access
to the alcohol. (Art. 27, Sec. 401A)

Allowing someone under 21 to use your driver's
license to obtain alcohol can result in a fine and a license
suspension. (TA 16-301p)

Use of a fake, false or altered ID by someone
under 21, to obtain alcohol can result in a fine of up to $500.00.
(Art. 27, Sec. 400B)
