Officer Responsibilities

The President Shall:

  • Conduct meetings
  • Prepare agendas for meetings
  • Attend all Faculty meetings
  • Attend SGA forum meetings if Sophomore Representative is vacant
  • Check campus and departmental mailboxes
  • Fill out necessary paperwork to maintain RSO status
  • Keep advisor(s) updated on all SNA happenings
  • Maintain contact with MANS and NSNA
  • Attend conferences, community events, departmental events, etc., where possible

The Vice President Shall:

  • Take over for the president as needed
  • Review and Revise bylaws each year (if necessary)
  • Attend conferences, community events, departmental events, etc., where possible
  • Write a resolution to be presented at the Annual NSNA Convention
  • Organize and initiate the mentor program with assistance
  • Maintain and update official SNA website

The Secretary Shall:

  • Take minutes at all meetings
  • E-mail minutes of meetings to faculty, pre-nursing, and nursing student within three (3) days of meeting
  • Process requests for information about SNA, MANS, and/or NSNA
  • Process requests for more information about SNA, MANS, or NSNA
  • Attend conferences, community events, departmental events, etc., where possible

The Treasurer Shall:

  • Handle finances of the organization
  • Organize and initiate Standris stethoscope fundraiser
  • Assist Events Coordinator with fundraising
  • Submit budget to appropriations board as necessary
  • Fill out necessary paperwork requesting travel funds from appropriations resources
  • Meet with appropriations representative when necessary
  • Attend conferences, community events, departmental events, etc., where possible

The Public Relations Chair Shall:

  • Create and post flyers to advertise meetings and upcoming events at least three (3) days prior to the event
  • Keep SNA and students informed of any Skills Lab information or changes
  • Increase awareness of, and participation in, SNA among all the nursing and pre-nursing students
  • Organize and initiate T-shirt sales
  • Attend conferences, community events, departmental events, etc., where possible

The Events Coordinator Shall:

  • Initiate contacts for community activities
  • Coordinate fundraisers with the Treasurer
  • Plan activities (with assistance)
  • Attend conferences, community events, departmental events, etc., where possible

The Breakthrough to Nursing (BTN) Shall:

  • Develop programs to enhance student involvement in SNA (especially pre-nursing, second degree, and minority students)
  • Initiate contact with local high schools, campus and community organizations in hopes of increasing SNA participation outside the nursing department
  • Along with the President and Vice President, update officer responsibilities list yearly
  • Become NSNA Pit Recruiter to increase NSNA membership
  • Organize NSNA cord sales
  • Attend conferences, community events, departmental events, etc., where possible

The Junior Representative Shall:

  • Increase participation of Junior Nursing students in SNA meetings and events
  • Keep Junior Nursing students informed about SNA
  • Organize and initiate study groups, tutors, etc. as needed (coordinate with the second degree representative)
  • With assistance from the President and Vice President organize and initiate CPR course for initial and re-certifications in May
  • Attend conferences, community events, departmental events, etc., where possible

The Second Degree Representative Shall:

  • Increase participation of Second Degree Nursing students in SNA meetings and events
  • Keep Second Degree Nursing students informed about SNA
  • Assist Junior Representative with organizing and initiating study groups, tutors, etc. as needed
  • With assistance from the Vice President organize and initiate a mentoring program for incoming Second Degree students
  • Attend conferences, community events, departmental events, etc., where possible

The Sophomore Representative Shall:

  • Increase participation of pre-nursing students in SNA meetings and events
  • Keep Junior pre-nursing students informed about SNA
  • Attend SGA forum meetings during semester to maintain RSO status
  • Attend conferences, community events, departmental events, etc., where possible
