FAQ’s

  • 1. What does SOAP stand for?
    Student Organization for Activities Planning
  • 2. What does SOAP do?
We bring concerts, comedians, lectures, and weekly movies to campus and we plan trips for the student body to take throughout the semester.
  • 3. How can I get involved in SOAP?
We hold monthly committee meetings and will email our committee members when we need help with events (which is quite frequently!)
  • 4. What kind of things do committee members do?
Committee members are an integral part of our organization. They help with forming ideas for the next semester, promoting events, running big events (such as the spring concert, comedians, and lectures), and make announcements at movies, so on and so forth.
  • 5. Can my friend from another school come on a SOAP trip?
No, we are unable to accommodate students from other schools (and/or family members) because a majority of the funding for trips comes from your student activities fee (built into your tuition cost). Trips are generally in such high demand that it would not be fair if an SU student did not get a spot over a non-SU student.
  • 6. How do I find out about SOAP events?
We send out weekly emails and Facebook notifications about each event. Our website is always up to date. We typically submit a weekly ad to the Flyer (look for the SOAP Box). Also, we have tons of great promotional items and announce upcoming events at other events.
  • 7. Where is the SOAP office located?
GUC 125 H…Student Activities Center. The glass office diagonal from the Gulls Nest/East Coasters.
  • 8. What do I do if I can’t make the SOAP meetings but still want to be active in the organization?
Come to the office and a board member will fill you in on upcoming events. You can also email us (SOAP@salisbury.edu) or call the office 410-543-6197. Or check out the website (S.O.A.P Website)
  • 9. What kind of incentives are there for being a committee member?
We’re always giving away great stuff like t-shirts, promotional items, pizza/prizes at meetings (we gave away an I-Pod once!), and raffle off high demand SOAP event spots/tickets. It’s also a great way to get your foot in the door if you’re interested in applying for an exec board position for the next year. Being a part of one of the University’s biggest and most well known organizations also looks great on a resume!
  • 10. If I want to go on a trip, but can’t be there for the sign up, what can I do?
We can’t sell tickets early or make any exceptions, so as an alternative we allow students to purchase up to 2 spots on trips. So, if you can’t be there, ask a friend. Be sure they have your GullCard, money and contact information!!
  • 11. What if I’m involved in a club and want to have SOAP co-sponsor an event?
In this case, you would need to fill out a co-sponsorship form and submit it to the SOAP President in which it will be reviewed at the board meeting for acceptance or denial.
  • 12. What are some of SOAP’s signature events?
The Boston Trip, Ski Trips, Justin Timberlake Concert Trip, Big concerts on campus, Drunk Driving Simulator, Female Orgasm Lecture, Frank Warren of Post Secret, Salisbury Idol, Broadway/New York Trips, Real World/Road Rules Speakers, comedians and a multitude of variety events.
