NOVEMBER HATTERAS ACTION
The waves weren't that big on the trip, but the air was warm and the conditions
were probably perfect for learning. Everyone got out in the water
on Saturday, and a bunch of people even went without wetsuits. We spent
the whole day surfing, and it was cool because everybody was in good spirits,
helping each other out--I even left my comfort zone and did something I've
only done like twice in my whole life, paddle out on a shortboard.
I'm a lifelong bodyboarder, but I went out and flailed like a beginner
for the day. It was so much fun! Courtney Smith was our beginner
of the weekend--she paddled out bareback and charged it! Forrest
gave her lessons and in no time she standing up. From then on she
was hooked, paddling around like crazy and taking all sorts of waves. Forrest,
Mase, Jack, B-rent, and I surfed the Lighthouse while the sun set, staying
out until it was so dark we were surfing under the stars. The waves could've
been better, but we all made the best of it and had a great time.

ready to launch.
This is me on my sponge--you don't want to see my surfing.
