May 07, 2008

Still slowly working on updating the website.  Once I get everyone's profiles done, I want to try to get an alumni page up.

This was a great season Flash! We're going to miss all of our seniors so much next year, but we still have a lot to look forward to.

Make sure you keep playing during the summer whether at tournaments or summer league, or both.  If you live in the Central Maryland area, you should consider playing summer league there.  For the application, click here
.

Good luck with finals everyone and see you in the fall!
April 23, 2008

Sorry it's been so long to update the website.  Basically Flash has had an awesome year!

In February, we went to JMU, went 7-0 and got first place!

We just got 2nd place at Sectionals the weekend of April 12-13.  Now we're ready for Regionals this weekend in Princeton, New Jersey.

Good luck Flash, and keep up the great work!

April 25: Regionals... here we come!

After an extended Sectionals, Flash ended up finishing 3rd in the Colonial Section, losing the game for 2nd to Maryland. But all is well, Flash is on their way to Regionals in Edinboro, PA next weekend! Keep working hard Flashers.

April 3: Sectionals here we come!

What a great feeling to take into sectionals -- Flash went 7-0 at the Charm City Classic and took 1st place out of 12 teams. With only 9 players on Saturday, and some more help on Sunday, the team was able to perfect some amazing flow and really push each other to have some of the best play in a while. Thanks to every girl who came out and to Jen and Jules' families for being so hospitable.

Now it's time for the real deal -- SECTIONALS! If you haven't heard it has been moved to glorious Salisbury where the women will most likely be playing at the Holly Center and Winter Place Park. Flash will be pumping it up these next two weeks and getting ready for the biggest moment of the year!

Jan 30: welcome back!

Welcome back!! Spring has officially begun in Flash ultimate season! We've got a lotta work to do this season and it's starting soon. Check out the schedule for the spring, most of the dates are definite besides the college sectionals date, but we're always looking for more tournaments. Practices will start second week of classes, and we will be having an interest meeting on that Monday, February 5th, to talk about the upcoming season and all its glory. Hope everyone has a great start to the new semester and can't wait to practice and play with you all soon!

Dec 4th: is fall over already?!

Alas, the end of the fall semester has come. What an amazing fall season for the flash ladies. After traveling to the Delaware tournament and going 5-2 for the weekend in mid-novemeber, the Flash ladies were ready to take on the Ultimaxx challenge. Altogether 14 ladies strong, Flash went to NC and returned with a lot of good memories, some great laughs, and even better love for the flash. Everyone stepped it up this weekend so much and especially when battling the winds down south. Much love and great wishes to our graduating December Seniors: Kerri Liming, Kimberly Strobel, and Kelly Fonner - you all will truly be missed.

But hey, don't let those winter months get you down! Keep working out, throwing with friends, and get yourself ready for spring...best time of the year, aka sectionals will be just around the corner before you know it! Have a safe winter break and we'll see you all in the spring!

Sept 18: flash brought sexy bats.

Flash couldn't have asked for a better trip to this year's Club Sectionals. Appearing as the club team Ninja Squad, this group of stud ladies worked so well together, they went 6-0 for the entire weekend!!! Even the new players got their piece of the prize with both Jaime and Sarah scoring and assisting...with multiple layouts each too!! I couldn't be more proud of this team and where it's going...FLASH is now back in action.

Practices will still continue at the scheduled times  and tournament options are still being looked at so check back in to the schedule for updates.

Awesome job FLASH! You  guys earned it.

Aug 29: put on those cleats ladies!

It's that time again! Holloway hall is looking rather green and ready to be torn up, in a good way. Flash is back in action and ready for the season. With many returning players, this year is sure to be a fun one.

New players! We're always looking for some fresh legs so come on out to our practices:

Tuesday: 3:30-6ish  Holloway Lawn

Wednesday: 8:30-10ish In front of Maggs Gym

Thursday: 3:30-6ish Holloway Lawn

So come on out - meet some new, fun people, try something new! It was definitely the best decision I ever made in college. play ULTIMATE! We'll be around the activities fair and campus to try and convince you some more - so look out!

May 10: that's all folks!

Summer is just around the corner which means one thing in the ultimate world: summer league! It's time to sign up and get out there and have fun and improve all at the same time. Highly encouraged no matter what skill level. Check out the website below to get further details - Deadline is May 27th!

Congrats to Kerri and ReRy for the official role of captain next year, and good luck to all of those over the summer - come back safe, all in one piece, and ready to play some fun ultimate!

April 25: a busy NY week!

So it's official - Flash has made it to regionals! The past couple weeks have been a little crazy, including last weekends trip to Albany. Although the play was not that great due to bad weather and cancellations on Sunday, it can be safe to say that Flash girls still had a great time. Thanks again to Ryan West and the rest of the Albany boys for putting on such a great tournament.

Regionals is this weekend in Rochester NY so you know what that means...yep! another crazy long adventurous car ride! More posts about that journey will come.

Thanks for all the support this year, especially from BUZZ and the guys who came to late night running practice to help out. Also thanks to Towson and Albany for supporting the Flashmania even from long distances away. Thanks to Salisbury University for letting us play and continue to tear up Holloway, and Chris Roberts as well for putting up with our many shennanigans. Flash loves you guys!

March 6: spring season is officially in session!

It's been a busy past two weeks! The Flash made it through JMU finishing 6-1 and taking 2nd place all around! Awesome job ladies. Everyone worked amazing together in the crazy wind (wind gusts up to 30mph!) and the weekend went off without a hitch.

Atlantis was this past weekend here in the Bury and although the wind was yet again a factor, these ladies did not let it hold them down. Although going 0-4 on Saturday, Flash pulled out an amazing win over G-Dub in their first game on Sunday in universe point with a score of 11-10. It was a hard but good spirited game all around.

Next up! Huck of the Irish at Towson...some spring break time...possible visit with alumni Kevin for a boot camp type practice...then on to SECTIONALS! Keep up the good work ladies - it'll all pay off.

December 1, 2005: hoodies & t's are in!

The stylish new Flash hoodies and t-shirts are in!! Come pick them up at Re-Ry's place. T-shirts will be used as fundraisers and it looks like they are going to be a hot item: for both guys and girls! So check them out then pick one up!

No more practices for the rest of the season, but just a reminder for the long winter break: only you can determine just how killer you're going to be in the spring...Bust your but so you can bust theirs. Get pumped up!

Have a good winter break!!! See you in the spring :-)

November 14, 2005: flash takes 4th!

What a great time at Rutgers! Flash went 2-0 on Friday night at Rutgers university, beating Cornell and Georgetown. Waking up for a full day of ultimate on Saturday, Flash first met with rivals G-Dub but sadly lost that game. Flash took Princeton 13-2 and was headed on to play Rutgers in one of the best games of the season. Everyone played intense defense, enabling us to beat Rutgers 9-6. By far the best performance of Flash this fall. Flash ended up 4th in the tournament after losing to Cornell, who had added 5 of their starting players after last night. But finishing 4th out of 10, after being ranked 8th is definitely something to be proud of. Good job Flash!

Not enough can be said about the rookies that made it out to Rutgers, and rookies in general! You guys are doing an amazing job stepping it up, and there is already so much improvement. Keep going, keep throwing, and keep laying out! Again, awesome awesome job to those of you who came out this weekend - and yay - everyone scored at least one point!

Practices still on for Tuesday and Thursday - pickup in front of Holloway hall. Check IM's for further updates. Good fall season FLASH!!

November 10, 2005: wrapping up fall

Welp! The fall semester is just about to come to an end, and so is the FLASH's fall season. Our trip to North Carolina was a success in a sense that all the rookies got a better understanding of how the game is played, as well as a major victory over Georgetown by coming back from a 7-1 score at half, and taking the game 13-7. Everyone played their hearts out that game, and it paid off.

Next up is our tournament at Rutgers this Friday night and Saturday. With smaller numbers for this tournament, stamina will be the name of the game. But with every tournament and every practice, spring semester is looking brighter and brighter!

October 10, 2005: 1st at MD TOURNAMENT

Congrats for winning University of Maryland's Tournament!! Yea 1st place!! This has been the first time that Flash has placed first at a tournament in a long long time so keep up the hard work and intensity. Rookies are continuing to work hard as well as the old girls - we want it, as always! North Carolina is looking like a good time...

October 3, 2005: Roster updated

Just added some new players to the roster...profiles coming soon. Also added a tentative schedule. Keep it up FLASH - UMD this weekend! Keep checking back in for more updates.

September 7, 2005: Welcome back!

Flash is back and ready for action!!! We've now had one official practice and are looking towards a bright season. If you still want to come out and learn, we meet Tues and Thurs 3:30 on Holloway Hall's front lawn...just look for the frisbee's flying. Haven't heard much on tournaments this year, but Club Sectionals, weekend of Sept. 17, is being held next weekend in Catonsville for the girls, and Salisbury it seems for the guys.

If you have any questions about the sport or Flash, don't hesitate to email the captains listed on the front page.
